Cahaba Medical Care hosts a dino-mite party to launch their Reach Out and Read-Alabama program

Representative April Weaver, House District 49, was on hand to help Cahaba Medical Care (CMC) launch their Reach Out and Read-Alabama program and help celebrate the program’s summer reading event. 

Currently serving over 200 children ages six months to five years of age and their families, Lacy Smith, M.D., the medical consultant for the new Reach Out and Read program, expects that number to increase rapidly with the expansion in three other clinic sites in Woodstock, Bessemer and Maplesville. “With 47 percent of our patients living in poverty, prescribing brand, new books to the children and families that we serve and educating their parents and caregivers about the link between reading daily and brain development at each checkup will make a significant impact on the success of these children in school," said Lacy Smith, M.D., the medical consultant for the new Reach Out and Read program
