Primrose School of Meadowbrook Celebrates 2019 Read Across America Day with Book Drive

Each year on March 2, the National Education Association sponsors Read Across America Day to celebrate beloved author, Theodor Geisel, “Dr. Seuss.” Parents and friends of the children at the Primrose School of Meadowbrook used the month of February to “show the love” to the Reach Out and Read-Alabama program site at Western Health Center in Midfield.  The month-long book drive resulted in 590 books and culminated with a celebration of Statewide Coordinator, Polly McClure, reading a Dr. Seuss book to students at the school.

I can’t tell you how excited Western Health Department Pediatrics is to receive the books from Primrose Meadowbrook so carefully picked out and sent to our patients. What a wonderful show of giving! And to have decorated the boxes so carefully too! My heart is overwhelmed with gratitude and the children will be so excited to have such wonderful books. Many of the books are brand new and those that aren’t have been probably lovingly read by other little hands.—what a treasure to pass on to others.
