As the new president of the Chapter, I am happy to thank all of you that have helped create a brighter future for our children and families through our program, Reach Out and Read-Alabama in 2017. As a program of the Chapter for the past 12 years, we have seen physicians and other medical providers throughout the state prescribe almost 2 million brand-new books at well-child visits.

Participants were seen all over the resort sporting the bright blue signature Pentathlon shirts as they tackled the activities -- a one-mile walk/run, 30 minutes of  biking, 30 minutes of kayaking, one hour of swimming and an hour of reading for fun -- with their colleagues.

At Read and Romp, children are engaged in fun, learning-based activities themed around favorite children's books. Children leave the event with goodies that they have either created or earned by completing each station along with a stamped passport and a bag of brand new books.
