Sharing the mission across the state
Over the past few months, we have shared across the state that by incorporating our evidence-based model into pediatric care and offering families the tools and support they need to read together, we can transform pediatric care, not only promoting healthy families but also ensuring that children from all backgrounds and circumstances receive a better start in life.
• Exhibit at the Alabama Academy of Family Physicians Annual Meeting in June
Amy shared the Reach Out and Read story with family physicians from across the state, including Brittany Anderson, MD, AAFP President and medical champion of her Reach Out and Read program in Demopolis.
• Representing ROR-AL at the 2025 Prevent Child Abuse America National Conference in June
Amy is pictured with Clare Anderson, speaker at the conference, and Amanda Lightsey, Program Manager with Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama. Anderson, an Alabama native and a University of Alabama graduate, is a Senior Policy Fellow Emeritus at Chapin Hall in Chicago. She uses research and policy to enhance outcomes for children and families, engaging various stakeholders in systemic change. As a national thought leader, she focuses on economic and concrete supports to prevent child welfare involvement and advocates for a family well-being system that emphasizes support and cross-sector partnerships.

Amy connected with professionals in early childhood education from across the state to share how we can partner to make a difference in the lives of children.
• Exhibit at the Alabama Chapter-American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Meeting and Pediatric Update
We exhibited at the Alabama Chapter-American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Meeting in Birmingham in September sharing more information with our program sites and those interested in learning more about bringing the program to their practice or clinic.
• Represented the program at 10th annual Alabama Children's Policy Council Conference
Amy and Marsha Raulerson, who brought our program to Alabama in 2006, joined Children First and the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education at the 2025 Alabama Children’s Policy Council Conference to inspire change, build connections, and live out this year's theme: "Empowering Minds for a Stronger Community."
